RIAR to hold New Rental & Property Management Courses
Be prepared for the release of the new MLS Residential Rental category in mid to late November! RIAR and the Rental Committee are pleased to announce new classes on rental and property management. The Committee has worked very hard to offer a comprehensive package of classes designed to educate students on the many facets of the rental process. City ordinances, fire laws, leases, maintenance, accounting practices, are all covered in the outstanding program now being presented. The completion of the courses will lead to a Rhode Island Designation in Property Rental and/or Property Management.
UPCOMING DATES FOR 2013:
#400 Introduction to the Rental Process I
This course is designed to give the students the knowledge and skills necessary to take their customer/client from the beginning step of renting to the completion of the rental agreement. This will enable the licensee to better serve the client throughout the process of renting. Section 8 information will also be covered along with insurance information.
#401 Fire, Radon, Mold, Megan's Law, State Regulations
- February 20, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This course will go over all the details related to Fire, Radon, Mold and introduce the reasoning behind Megan's Law. This will provide valuable knowledge to the rental agent regarding the rules and regulations concerning fire code, radon standards and testing, and mold awareness and mitigation.
#402 Recordkeeping, Maintenance & Ordinances/Designated Rental Agent
- March 14, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
This course will instruct the licensee with information necessary to maintain proper records and to stay current with ordinances and maintenance issues related to property rentals. The better organized the rental agent, the happier the clients. It is imperative that proper and current records be well-organized and kept current. Along with this issue, ordinances for all facets of rentals and maintenance issues will be taught.
#403 Property Management
- March 27, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Students who take this course will learn about maintaining property financial records, inspections, hiring contractors, the property contract, condo law, licensing and insurance and conflict resolution. This course will take the rental process and offer new tools for successful management of properties and keeping within the rules and regulations guiding this area.
